Haley's Baptism

Sunday, May 2 was the Annual Bishop's Visitation at St. James' Episcopal. We had Haley baptized during the 8:40am service that morning. All of our family came to the service (though we missed Trey's grandparents who were sick). I of course started crying as we processed into the church. Just walking down the aisle brought back so many memories: 1) started attending St. James' in college 2) started by first "real" job as the Youth Minister 3) married Trey 4) baptized our first child! Time is just flying by I can't believe it.

Haley is so fortunate to have some great godparents: Adam (Her Uncle/My Brother), Christina (Her Aunt/My Sister) and Jessica (My Cousin).

It poured all weekend but we were able to get to the church without to much trouble. She also looked beautiful in her gown that my brother made when my brother was born!

2 Month Check Up

Tuesday morning we had Haley's 2 month doctor appointment. I knew she would be getting shots and was dreading the day. I had fears she would cry in the office and all day long. I was so wrong though! She screamed when she got the shots but no less than a minute later she was asleep and slept for around 4 straight hours.

I was so lucky that Trey was able to go with us. Especially since I told him the appointment was the wrong date, but he rearranged work to come with us.

She now weighs 11 pounds 4 ounces (when she was born she was 8 pounds 1 ounce) and is 22 1/2 inches long. She is in the already growing so fast and I can't believe it's already been 2 months!! I'm loving every minute of it.

Looking at her daddy for support.

Looking at her mommy before the shots. She was probably wondering why I had tears in my eyes, I was dreading the shots but she was great!

Haley's First Photo Shoot at 4 Weeks Old

We went when Haley was 4 weeks old to get her pictures taken! I thought it was going to be so nice since we signed her up for a time when she was usually taking a nap. This day though, she didn't want to sleep at all! She screamed and cried, and of course I bragged all day about how great of a temper she had. I was on the verge of tears I was so upset that she was upset and so embarrassed because it was taking so long. The photographers though were so sweet and gently with Haley and just took some great pictures when she was settled and ready.

I was truely blessed to be around great people for this experience. We go back again when she is around 3 months old. Already thinking of what to dress her in, I know for sure her Baptism Gown (which is actually next Sunday!).

Church Easter Service

We were able to attend church on Easter Sunday at St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Fayette, AL. Haley was so beautiful in her little white Feltman Brothers dress! Little did I know though til lunch that she has a runny diaper that got onto her dress. So, wardrobe change into a onesie. And without realizing it because I wanted to get her clean we have no pictures of her dressed up. Maybe next year :(

Aunt Robbie, Queen, Jessica, Grandmother Fran holding Haley, Me...I feel it is a blessing to have 4 generations in one picture, not many people are as lucky as I am to be blessed with such an amazing family.

All the men: Trey, Uncle Barrie, Buck, Bill, Brady, Austin, Adam Wilson, Daddy Herb
Sweet Cousins who would fight each other when we were younger...ask Jessica, it all started when I got a Cabbage Patch baby and she didn't...years later she is one of my closest friends.

Trey and Me

Trey giving Haley one of her first bottles. Other people have given her sips when we were away but this was the first time she had a full bottle! He is now in love with feeding her and almost begs me at night to pump a bottle so they can have that bonding. I must admit the extra sleep has been very nice!

Easter Weekend in Fayette

After a day in Birmingham we all traveled to Fayette to spend time with more family. We had a lot of fun hanging out together at Grandmother Fran and Daddy Herb's house. We all missed David Lowe though!

Haley and Queen hanging out.

Doc and Haley.

Aunt Christina and Brady at the church Easter egg hunt. Haley didn't go looking for many eggs, although I ate candy out of some. Jessica Jones was in charge and she did a great job!

Jessica, Buck and Haley. We are trying to convince Buck they need to have another little baby so Haley can have someone close to her age to play with. We think that this worked!

Aunt Christina, Grandmother Fran, Haley and Jessica hanging out on the back porch. Christina was quick to point out it looks like she is wearing a halo, don't know about that but she is a great Aunt!

Birmingham Easter

Queen (my mom) came to Jackson for the night to drive me back to Birmingham. I thought she didn't need to do this at first but when we got to Meridian and Haley was screaming I was glad my mom was there to drive while I could soothe her til we were able to stop.

When we got to Birmingham we had a blast with the family. Of course not everyone was there, Haley has still yet to meet my step brother Adam who was at college.

Can't wait to go back soon for another visit. I guess the next time we go to Birmingham though will be for Adam Wilson and John Somerall's high school graduation...then we leave for Hawaii!

Aunt Christina showing Buck (the lab) and Buddie (the horse) baby Haley.

Buddie the dog was so funny with Haley. He wouldn't leave her alone all weekend, would just follow her around. Of course it made me a little nervous because his head is the size of her whole body!

My Grandfather, Papa (my dad's dad) meeting his first great granddaughter for the first time! It was a memory I will treasure forever.

It's Just So Hard Being A Baby!

We were on the couch one afternoon and she fell asleep while sitting up. A couple weeks ago I would have moved her to a more comfortable position, probably waking her up in the process. Now though I've learned to cherish anytime she falls asleep, no matter where she is or what position she is in. Guess that's what time does to a new mother.

She looks so small compared to the Boppy pillow.

Family Visit

One weekend Aunt Jessica (my cousin but we decided she would be an honorary Aunt), Aunt Robbie (my actual Aunt) and Brady and Austin (Jessica's children) came for a visit. It was great to have more children in the house. Trey and I were very lucky in their timing because it gave us a night to get out and go to an engagment party and not have to pay a babysitter.

They stayed in the hotel up the street and the boys had a great time in the pool and I was able to enjoy the breakfast. Yes, I sneaked over and had breakfast every morning with them! Delicious.

Brady and baby Haley. He was a great sport about holding Haley but a couple minutes after this picture he put her down and said he was done holding her and just went on playing his own games.

Austin really did enjoy his weekend visit with Haley. Even though in this picture it doesn't look like it. On Sunday at breakfast he even said that Jessica and Buck needed another baby!! We all have our fingers crossed on that one.

Aunt Robbie and Jessica admiring Haley. They had great fun with her and it was nice to get some rest while someone else showed her attention all weekend!

I love this picture of Aunt Robbie and Haley. It might be one of my favorites of all time, at least for now!

Bright Eyes!

We were walking last week and got a great shot of her bright blue eyes! I never thought I would have a child with blue eyes. We'll have to watch them and see if they change over the next year.

Bright eyes!

And then she's back out again.

I love her chubby cheeks and her daddy loves pinching them and making her smile. Haven't been able

Preparing for Easter

So I saw the perfect opportunity for some pictures a couple days before Easter. Haley is laying on a green shag rug in her bedroom and the jacket is from her Uncle Adam. She didn't get to wear it this year because it was hot for Easter and it's still a little big. We're looking forward to next year though!

It almost looks like she crawling away but remember she is only 5 weeks old. No crawling yet just stretching.

She was having a fussy day and wouldn't go without the paci.

Love the top of the jacket.

First Doctor's Visit

I have no pictures of Haley's first doctors appointment because when I took out the camera the battery was dead. Haley is now 8 pounds (born 8 pounds 1 ounce, when we were discharged from the hospital 3 days later she was 7 pounds 3 ounces), she is in the 50th percentile for weight. She has also grown almost an inch! I woke up one day last week and thought she grew over night! She is now 21 inches long which is in the 95 percentile for height. I'm going to have to yell at a 10 year old who is taller than me!

A Weekend of First

This past weekend was a first for Uncle Adam and Uncle John. Uncle Adam changed his first diaper! Lucky baby Haley! And baby Haley was the first baby that Uncle John ever held.

Uncle Adam and Haley's dirty diaper.

Uncle John wanted to start in small steps and didn't change a diaper yet but was very attentive to baby Haley all weekend.

Family Visit

This past weekend we had the joy of Queen, Doc, Uncle Adam and Uncle John coming to Jackson to spend time with us. It was a great weekend with lots of first that I'll post later. I will never be able to say Haley isn't loved enough!

First Outing!

Yesterday (Thursday) was such a beautiful day here in Jackson we took Haley out for her first walk around the neighborhood. I had to walk slow but did well and she slept the entire time. I'm taking that as a sign that she liked it! We'll try again in the next couple days hoping that the rain stays away.

Slow and steady!

Darby (the dog) was also excited to get out of the house.

Sweet sleeping baby after the walk.

First Bath at Home

On Tuesday night Trey and I gave Haley her first bath at home. I didn't know it would be so much work to get one lady ready for a bath. We had to find the perfect spot to bathe her (on the side of the guest bathroom counter), have clean towels (which meant doing a load of laundry), find the perfect water temperature (too hot, too cold, too hot, too cold). Then we were finally ready. She kicked a screamed during the entire bath, that is until we washed her hair. She loved getting her hair washed!! We now know what to do if she is fussy, just brush her hair.

One happy mommy to have a clean baby!

New Family Addition

When I was 15 my mom gave me a stuffed platypus in my Easter basket. I bonded with Paddy and have slept with it every night since then. I have taken it everyone: summer camp, college, vacations, my honeymoon, the hospital when I had Haley...Trey knows that Paddy is a must when I go to sleep! He kept teasing me that he had something for baby Haley and it came in the mail yesterday. Here is our newest family member! I only hope Haley loves her new stuffed animal as much as I love mine.

Haley's new stuffed animal...Paddles.
